our roots

Hello! Welcome to my blog!

I have recently brought it back to life after years of taking a break from sharing and writing outside of the social media world!

Who is Emily? Well, let me give you a little breakdown. I have been married for 14 years to Scott, we have three children, some sheep, a few chickens, and one elderly dog together. In 2020, our life radically changed when we moved to a farm and started our own construction and design business. I help run a Christian podcast and outreach ministry, called Glorytellers. I also homeschool our kids part time!

What will you see here? I made a little list for you!

Healthy living
(I am crunchy-ish / crunchy adjacent)
Food content
(I am the world’s okayest cook. If I can make it, you can too!)
Fun
(I have an alter ego named “good time Emily ™️ “ and I love to laugh. I WILL be sharing memes and random reels because we all need more joy and light in our lives!
Reviews
(Because I have opinions and I like sharing good things with my friends.)
Life Hacks
(The “E” in my name stands for efficient. I will find hacks and share them with you, bc it’s who I am as a person.
Farmerish Things
(Because my family lives on some land, I have a garden, we have sheep and chickens, so we think we are kind-of farmers.)
Faith
(My ministry @glorytellers is where you will see lots of faith based content, but it will also be woven throughout everything you see here, because I love Jesus and owe everything to Him)

I have been working towards “cleaning up” my life for 11 years, which coincides with when my son was born. I started questioning the ingredients in everything for him. Fast forward, we now have 3 kids and have been slowly but surely making small choices that have a big impact when you put them together. That includes moving out to some land, starting a garden, getting some animals, homeschooling, monitoring our products, healthy habits, etc.

You might find me doing red light therapy and sipping a Diet Coke with my pizza. Life is all about balance, and what you’ll find here is not shame, but grace to make small steps toward better health while still enjoying the little things. No one says you have to skip that s’more at the campground or homeschool your kids or move to the countryside to find happiness. I just love sharing our journey and how these choices have positively impacted our lives!

I hope that you find encouragement and practical steps to help clean up your health, habits, and home here!
