Favorite Things: August
Favorite Things.
Tacos. Comfy pants. A perfectly timed joke. These are a few of my favorite things.
I know you were sitting on the edge of your seat waiting for me to share that, but lets be honest, you are probably avoiding doing the dishes right now because you are on your phone reading this, so you are welcome for that break. ;)
What I am eating:
Gone are the days of Whole 30, Paleo only, starving myself, and convenient pizza diets. (Not a real thing, but it existed for a brief period of time with no kitchen sink, so.)
Now, I am entering the world of counting macros. WHAT? Yes, basically I am actually looking at the nutritional content of what I am eating instead of telling myself that the pizza had vegetables on it and the ice cream is a good source of dairy. Gone are the days of blissfully eating a banana without realizing the carb content, or the days of thinking I only need a couple TBSP of creamer in my coffee. (omg have you EVER measured that?) BASICALLY I look at calorie content, carbs, fats, and protein and make sure it is balanced. I am using the MyFitnessPal to help me track it, and its a piece of cake. (yummm cake....) I was SUPER overwhelmed by it at first, but the thought of growing a healthy baby and not turning into a whale is actually pretty motivating.
Here are some random things I have found that I am currently eating/loving:

You can find the Kodiak Cakes at Target and Meijer in their frozen section. They are AMAZING!
I use the blender with my protein shakes, or when I am making shakes for the kids. We got the original as a wedding gift 8 YEARS AGO and it is still going strong!
What I am reading:
Lets be honest here, I am not "reading" anything these days. I am listening to them on audible. Multi-tasking at its finest. Here are the last three books I have read. ALL of them amazing in their own ways. Present Over Perfect with life altering. LIFE CHANGING and I am NOT even exaggerating. I do not regret ANY of the purchases.

What my kids are loving:
1. I shared the Bunchems (squiggly things as my kids call them) the the other day, and they have still been a FAV. I have been warned to make sure little girl's hair is pulled up when you are playing with them *just in case*. We have made it a family item that we all play together, and it is a blast!
2. This Yumbox for Carter's school lunches. I looked everywhere for a lunchbox that would keep all the things together and finally found this one. He is THRILLED about taking a lunch to school. I am not so thrilled about him being at school long enough to require a lunch. (insert tears) We did make a choice to send him to another school that is only two days a week, that is a whole separate post. For now, I will keep the name private and off the internets.
3. The Greatest Showman ANYTHING. The movie. The soundtrack. They are obsessed. Carter informed me that he wants a circus outfit for Christmas, and that he will be a Circus man when he grows up. :)

I think that is enough for now. That was ONE LOADED POST! I would love to know your thoughts, and some of YOUR favorite things. Let me know in the comments!
Have a great weekend!
